BTS en Netflix: Transmisión de concierto en vivo y un documental inédito

Netflix has officially confirmed a global live broadcast of BTS’s first full-group concert after almost four years, alongside the premiere of a feature-length documentary that delves into the making of their new album, Arirang.

The announcement marks a milestone for both the band and the platform. It will be Netflix’s first worldwide, real-time music concert streamed from South Korea, reinforcing its push into live programming following sports events and special broadcasts.

Live concert from the heart of Seoul

Titled BTS: The Live Comeback: Arirang, the concert will stream on March 21, starting at 5:00 a.m. (Cancún time). The performance will take place at Gwanghwamun Square, one of Seoul’s most iconic public spaces, located directly in front of Gyeongbokgung Palace.

Netflix confirmed the live stream will be included at no extra cost across all subscription plans, allowing millions of fans worldwide to watch BTS return to the stage in real time.

The show will also feature the first-ever live performances of songs from BTS’s fifth studio album, Arirang, scheduled for release on March 20, just one day before the concert.

BTS reunites after military service

The concert represents the onstage reunion of all seven members—RM, Jin, SUGA, j-hope, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook—after three years and nine months of hiatus due to South Korea’s mandatory military service, completed on a staggered schedule.

The event also serves as a prelude to the Arirang World Tour, an expansive global run featuring 82 shows across 34 regions, with Mexico City dates confirmed for May 2026.

An intimate documentary look at BTS

In addition to the live concert, Netflix will premiere the documentary The Return on March 27. The film is directed by Bao Nguyen and produced by HYBE in collaboration with This Machine.

The documentary follows the members during the creation of Arirang and captures their creative reunion after completing military service. Parts of the film are set in Los Angeles, where BTS reconvenes in the studio after years defined by solo projects and personal evolution.

According to Netflix, the film offers an intimate portrait of a pivotal moment in BTS’s history—exploring how the group reconnects creatively without losing the identity that made them a global cultural force.

Global demand and mounting pressure in Mexico

BTS’s return comes amid unprecedented demand for live shows. In Mexico, ticket sales for the 2026 tour reportedly left around 94% of interested fans without tickets, with more than 2.1 million users attempting to purchase passes, according to figures from Ticketmaster, a company that has previously been sanctioned by Profeco.

The scale of the phenomenon has even reached the diplomatic arena, with Mexican authorities reportedly asking South Korea to consider additional dates or alternative solutions to meet the overwhelming demand from local fans.

With a live global concert and a deeply personal documentary, Netflix and BTS are setting the stage for one of the most anticipated comebacks in modern music, blending spectacle, storytelling, and worldwide reach like never before.
